This is just a testimony of how precious our Lord is. Lastnight, while tucking my two sweeties into bed, my oldest daughter said to me, "Mommy, I want to speak in tongues, how do I do it?" I said, "well the Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you an utterance, let me pray for you to have a special prayer language." At that point my other daughter hung over the top bunk bed and said, "yea I want that too!" Well,....long story short, I prayed with them and went to bed amazed and overjoyed at the whole experience.
As I pondered the evening and if I did everything right or said exactly the right words or layed hands the right way,.....the Lord began to show me just how precious the whole thing was. I wish I could say they both jumped out of bed and began babbling like a wild stream,...no,...that didn't happen, however how many parents get to partake in those precious times that your children are yearning to have more of Jesus? When I was in the instituational church I was made to feel like only the pastor or only the leaders could bestow such a privilage as speaking in tongues. And there was a formula to it,..get everyone excited,..que the music,...call forth the leaders,..and ask if anyone wants what they have. My children were not persuaded in any form and better yet, they came to me (mommy). Just when I have a smiggen of doubt that maybe were missing something by not being in the institutional church, Jesus shows me that everything I need and my children need are in HIM and not in the church building.
My prayer was not fancy or motivational, and I had no music or a team of leaders, I only had my Lord and a prayer of faith and confidence that what the Lord began that night He will be faithful to complete it.
Blessings,
Meagan
